The Counter - new pro bono global help desk for challenging corporate power

SOMO’s new initiative The Counter is a global help desk for activists challenging corporate power.

Our close partners at SOMO, the Dutch Centre for Research on Multinationals, is setting up a fantastic new pro bono investigations unit, which will serve as a help desk for activists seeking to tackle corporate power.

The new initiative, The Counter, will dig into corporate and capital structures, ownership and investors, operations, finances, and governance to help build a file with evidence that can be used in an investigation, court case, or campaign.

SOMO adds:

Through tailored, free support, The Counter will give community activists and their allies access to the kind of information and technical training that is usually only available to large companies with deep pockets. The Counter will not only dig up vital data and corporate information, it will help strategize with activists, communities, lawyers, and journalists about using the data where it will be most effective, including in public campaigns, with regulators, in courtrooms, and in the media.”

The Counter will go live in a few months: in the meantime, you can sign up for updates here.
